Salvatore Mancarella born April 25, 1919 in Hartford, passed peacefully on Saturday (February 9, 2008), surrounded by his loving family. Salvatore resided in Sicily, Newington, West Hartford and Wethersfield. He was predeceased by two wives, Catherine Gagliard and Ottilie Mancarella. He leaves his daughter Mary March, and a son Thomas. He was predeceased by sons, Salvatore Jr, and Santo. Sal was the loving grandfather of 7 grandchildren, Dawn, Vincent, Stacey, Krista, Kylene, and T. J. Mancarella, and Sarah March. A Communicant of St. Luke's Church, he also was a member of the Canicattinese Society, St. Lucia Society as well as the Columbus Day Committee. With his son Santo he promoted the Columbus Day Celebrations. Salvatore also called "Sam" had owned Sam's Friendly Service of West Hartford. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the caring and devoted staff of Farmington Care Center. Funeral Service will be held Friday, February 15, at 9 a.m. from the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd, Wethersfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Luke Church, 66 Bolton St, Hartford. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 453 Fairfield Ave, Hartford. Friends and relatives may call on the family Thursday, February 14, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
